I adore this. Actually, totally, wonderfully adore it.
Nearly made me cry, dear, and that's not easily done, believe me.
Oh! I can't think of anything else to say. But I love it. *hugs you close* Thank you!

~hugs~ Oh, sweetie! Thanks so much! I'm just thrilled that you enjoyed it. I love you too, you know. :-)

Seriously, I had a very good time writing about these two, so I'm happy to share it with you now.

This was a beautiful story! The old "Tobias abused Eileen and Severus" theory has become kind of a cliche, so it was refreshing to see a story in which both of them were equally to blame for their marriage deteriorating. And it was also refreshing to see that they had (and still have) genuine love for each other, in spite of all their problems.

It's hard to forgive them for the way they treated Severus when he was a child, but at the same time you make me feel sympathy for them, and make me hope for an eventual reconciliation that will help heal Severus as well.

I loved Luna, and I loved how the house kind of became a character itself. And I also loved Draco being snotty and protective at the same time. I even liked the little hint of Snape/Draco, and I usually don't like picturing Snape paired with anyone but Lupin!

Thanks for sharing this amazing fic!

Thank you very much! I'm glad this new spin on the Eileen/Tobias backstory worked for you. You've taken from it exactly what I wanted to show: that they could both have done things that damaged the marriage and each other and yet still loved each other. I see their relationship as complicated--probably they weren't ready to get married when they did, but now that they've had some time to work on themselves, I think they'll have a much better shot at success ( ... )

Why, thank you! What a lovely thing to say. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the story. I wanted Eileen to experience a thrill of hope after so many years without any.

Original and interesting.

If I feel like reading good Snape fiction, or if I start having nightmares of a deathly Shallows nature, I need only dip into your journal and be cured. For this you get a --

Oh! ~bows~ Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, and as for the rest... well, thanks again. That made my morning, waking up to read that. I'm glowing a pleasant shade of Slytherin green.

I have to admit that I'm not certain I would have written this story if I hadn't been prompted by Femme's request, but I'm very glad that I did get the chance; I enjoyed writing about things from Eileen's perspective, and it was a good challenge to come up with a different backstory for all of them. I originally had more Narcissa--she's the Secret Keeper--but I had to prune back the story to keep the focus on Eileen and Toby.

Oh my. THIS is the ending I want for Snape (and Eileen).

Much love for the little details, as well, like the poor little owl; also, your Luna is charming, and I love "the somnambulant look of the eternally wise and the chronically stoned" :)

Thank you very much! I'm delighted you enjoyed the story. It was a treat and an honor to have the opportunity to give the Snape family a more satisfactory ending.

I'm also thrilled that you enjoyed Luna. She's one of my favorite characters to write, so I was very happy to have an opportunity to feature her here.
