I'm sorry that most of my posts have been Avengers but then I also feel kind of powerless against NOT making most of my posts Avengers.
Also, I'm amazed that you're the first person I found immune to Tom Hiddleston. He usually wears everyone down eventually. I thought my mom was immune but then, we saw Avengers. Now, she points out his toys and merchandise. On Monday, she almost bought the Mighty Muggs Loki.
On the other hand, I totally understand what you're feeling when other people talk about Game of Thrones and Glee.
Aw, no, it's fine! ~hugs~ Everybody should totally feel free to post about the things they love and enjoy, you know? I definitely don't begrudge anybody their squee, even if I don't personally get it. (And yeah, I'm not into Game of Thrones or Glee, either. Or Supernatural. But I know other people do enjoy them, and that's cool.)
That is so cute about your mom! I don't really know why I seem to be immune to Tom Hiddleston's charms. I mean, like I said, I can certainly see why people would be attracted to him, because he is good-looking and seems like a genuinely nice, funny, intelligent guy. I really do like him! I'm just not drawn to him.
Then again, I'll have to see how I feel after finally seeing The Avengers, because maybe Loki!Hiddleston will convert me. ;-)
See, I was too focused on Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris to really lust after Hiddleston. (Gah, I have a type, and it's skinny men with shaggy hair, big blue eyes, and... interesting noses. What can I say?)
I did thoroughly enjoy his performance as F. Scott Fitzgerald, though. He is a good actor, no doubt about it.
(I so don't get the Supernatural love at all, but I see people who are VERY deeply into it, so there must be something there!)
Haven't seen the 'Avengers' yet, so I can't leap on board, although I am eager to see RJD as Iron Man again -- it's such a good role for him (although I loathed the second film). Hiddleston is a lovely man and I quite like the character of Loki. Of course, I saw 'Thor' -- I live with three men, two of whom are youngish and all of whom game online. If I hadn't seen 'Thor', and thus the few moments in the extravaganza where Hiddleston was able to act (he had a couple of very good actors to play off of) I wouldn't be a fan. But as it is, he was my favorite part of 'Thor
( ... )
I totally agree with you about RDJ being pretty much born for the role of Tony Stark. It is, I have to say, always a treat to see him in that part, and that, along with wary curiosity about Loki, is a large part of what will motivate me to see it. (I have to admit to having less than no interest in Thor.)
I hope you do enjoy it, though!
Those strawberries sound incredibly perfect! (As does that weekend.) You really can't beat them that way; so much better than what you'll find in a supermarket. And I remember being entranced by the French strawberries, too, because they were so small, but so fragrant and packed with flavor.
Glad you enjoyed the anecdote about Mme A! And yes, M. A was also an adorable little koala of a man, with plenty of anecdotes of his own. Like the time he introduced me to pastis...
I enjoy comic book movies well enough for the spectacle, but I rarely feel a real pull to them. (Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman series is the exception; I love those films.) While on the one hand, I have to admit to a certain curiosity over what Joss Whedon has done with those toys... um. I guess this is the part where I shamefacedly admit that I've never really connected with most of his stuff, either. ~hides~ There are exceptions, because I do love Firefly, and I also enjoyed Dr. Horrible, but on the whole, just... yeah, I don't know what it is, but there's something there that just keeps me from getting into it.
Although I am definitely glad that he can rub this in the faces at Fox. He totally deserves that vindication. :D
Have you ever injected chocolate-covered strawberries with Captain Morgan?
...I haven't before, but now I'm going to! That is one goooooood idea.
The squee is making me feel less blah about seeing the Avengers; I'm not really connected to that universe and don't much care for especially musclebound men, myself.
On the other hand, I love strawberries and am even this moment making a strawberry-rhubarb pie! :D
Mmm, this is a good point: without all the squee, some of it coming from unexpected corners, I might not even feel intrigued enough to want to go see it at all. (But if they come up with a longhaired androgynous superhero who isn't very muscly and wears a lot of eyeliner, I'd probably be more excited. *g* Just saying.)
Mmm, strawberry-rhubarb is always delicious! I bet that pie smells wonderful. :D
I used to make strawberry ice cream with my parents, when I was growing up, but I haven't done it in years and years, and I don't have an ice cream maker now. (I know, I know, I don't need one to make it, but it does help.) But it was awfully tasty, now that you mention it. Good idea!

Because I worked in the industry for a loooong time, we generally do sit through credits, but I love it when filmmakers add a little bonus at the end!

I'm pleased as punch he is finally getting his due in such a spectacular fashion (suck on that, Fox!).
Although, I must confess a certain attraction to Mark Ruffalo by way of Bill Bixby and the guy who played Legolas Hawkeye.
~e-hem~
