Haven't seen the 'Avengers' yet, so I can't leap on board, although I am eager to see RJD as Iron Man again -- it's such a good role for him (although I loathed the second film). Hiddleston is a lovely man and I quite like the character of Loki. Of course, I saw 'Thor' -- I live with three men, two of whom are youngish and all of whom game online. If I hadn't seen 'Thor', and thus the few moments in the extravaganza where Hiddleston was able to act (he had a couple of very good actors to play off of) I wouldn't be a fan. But as it is, he was my favorite part of 'Thor'.

I think we're seeing it this weekend, and I hope it lives up to expectations, or rather that it exceeds my lowest expectations.

I absolutely adored your anecdote about Mme A (and M. A, too; can't forget the spouse). I love strawberries, but I'm picky about them, too. Every year we drive up the coast of California to a small beach town named Cambria for the long Memorial Day weekend. We meet three generations of our very dear friends (they drive down from San Francisco) and we spend the entire weekend together. It's our job to bring the strawberries as we pass the fields on our way. So every year we stop at the same fruit stand and choose a flat of freshly picked (usually that morning) strawberries. Their equal are never found at the grocer's.

Two years ago was the best crop ever. When you broke open the strawberry (large enough to dip in chocolate) you could actually see the sugar crystals that had formed along the ridges of the inner structure. They were succulent, ripe, and sweet. We washed the entire flat and left them in a large bowl in the common room we all share.

Wow. I'm definitely hungry for some now!

Excellent tip, JAC. Thank you!

Because I worked in the industry for a loooong time, we generally do sit through credits, but I love it when filmmakers add a little bonus at the end!

I totally agree with you about RDJ being pretty much born for the role of Tony Stark. It is, I have to say, always a treat to see him in that part, and that, along with wary curiosity about Loki, is a large part of what will motivate me to see it. (I have to admit to having less than no interest in Thor.)

I hope you do enjoy it, though!

Those strawberries sound incredibly perfect! (As does that weekend.) You really can't beat them that way; so much better than what you'll find in a supermarket. And I remember being entranced by the French strawberries, too, because they were so small, but so fragrant and packed with flavor.

Glad you enjoyed the anecdote about Mme A! And yes, M. A was also an adorable little koala of a man, with plenty of anecdotes of his own. Like the time he introduced me to pastis...
