Guys, what the fuck is going on?

How is this my country? Every time I turn on the news my heart starts pounding and I feel like throwing up. This can't be right. This can't be the direction we're going. We can't seriously think that a woman who supports overturning Roe v. Wade and was involved with legislation that would require women to pay for Read more... )

I feel the same way. An overwhelming sense of anxiety coupled with a true, deep-seated fear we are all fucked.

Damn, yes, you hit it right on the head. It's the anxiety that kills me.

If it weren't for Jon Stewart I think I'd have packed up and left for Canada months ago.

I think this is wise. Unfortunately, she seems to be permeating everyfuckingthing lately. I see her on every damn magazine cover.

Start getting used to the idea of him not winning.

I've pre-emptively written an article called "What the 08 election has taught us about the American electorate" for when McCain wins. It was very cathartic to write, and I think people like us will find it cathartic to read.

I just...can't do that quite yet. Despite all of the pure fuckery in the media lately, I don't think it's over yet. Things will continue to see-saw up until November, and then he might very well win - but I don't think it's called yet.

At least, I really really fucking hope not.

The very thought of her in office makes me want to vomit. Quite literally. I'm totally serious about moving to somewhere tropical if they win.

Somewhere tropical, you say? This tropical place wouldn't happen to be populated by polar bears and torchuras, would it?

Yeah, I'm getting the fuck outta here if John McCain and Sarah Palin come into office. Aren't we moving to France together?

Anyway, don't worry, I've been there honey. I had to do the same thing, I didn't listen to NPR for a week. I just couldn't, I had to call my friend on the way to work and wake him up going, "tell me something that's good in the world, please."

It's rough, but at least you care.

Yes, we will move to France and live in an adorable little bungalow, where I will wash your clothes and you will make vegan chocolate raspberry cakes, and we will read books and watch Buffy and live happily Frenchly ever after. Okay?
