WOW! I don't usually read het but I love this pairing...and you did an amazing job with keeping them in character.

Love all the little details: the yellow flowers that Cas will never see again and the way you described the sun...very beautiful!

This is so very Ellen. Lovely! He knew that her husband’s death was a wound long since healed and that she enjoyed taking a man to her bed in the same way that she enjoyed an occasional cigar on a warm summer evening.

Oh Cas! Great dialogue. “Yes. I would not have forgotten.”

This might be by favorite het fic of all time.

I've linked a couple pictures to the flowers at the end of the fic; it's a wonderful view.. I think the line you quoted was actually the first one I wrote while sketching out the fic, because you just know that Ellen would figure “Screw being ladylike, I’m having a cigar if I feel like it.” It seemed a short step from that to screwing an angel if she felt like it. ;)

Thank you! Wincest I can deal with, but writing angel!sex sometimes felt a bit too pervy, so I was trying to keep it hot but tasteful.

This is the second Cas/Ellen fic I've found and I must admit I can really see it happening that night after all those shots. And it warms my heart that she would have been given that kind of send off. :)

I found that ultimately my desire to give Ellen a good sendoff trumped plausibility, but she and Cas did seem to be getting along well enough to make the pairing not totally impossible. And there had to be some reason he rode to Carthage with the Harvelles instead of the Winchesters, right?

I too usually don't read het. I also could not see Cas with Ellen but I have been giving some new and strange pairings a chance and you know what? I am very impressed with what I have been reading. This was so perfect. I like to think that Ellen spent her last night on Earth in the arms of an Angel and that Jo spent hers in the arms of her mother. Nice job.

I sort of admire SPN’s willingness to give some “realism” to the show by killing off regular/recurring characters, but…I loved Ellen (also in a non-slashy way). Hence the decision to give her a perfect last night, realistic or not.
