I didn't even KNOW the NY State Senate was voting on marriage equality today. S told me during a phone call at work (which momentarily reminded me of the time C delivered the news that Michael Jackson died, but that is neither here nor there). I was speechless. Today? Could it be ( Read more... )

Not sure if you've been following DC. We have civil unions, I beleive. But they are trying to pass reciprocity for marraiges to be recognized from other states. The council voted 11-2 in favor of allowing this.

The humorous sidenote is that our ex mayor cracksmoking hoe-hopping recently charged with stalking Marion Barry was one of the no votes. He made a speech about how this was not his belief, but the desires of his constituency. Then he asked for the GBLT community not to hold it agianst him.
