seriously: no. Pratt doesn't have enough full time faculity to pull off a defense for graduate theses. Each program is different at each school, so I don't see it as a rip-off, either way. The process I went through with my adviser was defense enough, honestly (and my proposal had to be approved by 4 different people). But rest assured, I can look forward to a grueling defense when it comes dissertation time.
