Unfortunately it took me days to read the whole story, but it was oh so worth it!
I loved how you characterized the whole thing, the settings and everything and how their relationship slowly developed from start to end :)
Duh, I loved it so much that now I don't even know what to write here D: I really wish I'd be able to tell you how much I liked it, all the little details you inserted there and everything ♥
xD Yeah, it is kind of ridiculously long, isn't it? To be honest, I was a little worried that might put some people off reading it, but if you thought it was worth it, then yay~! x3
Thank you~ It makes me so happy to hear you enjoyed it. :) Thanks so much for reading and commenting! ^^
...You call this comment embarrassing, but...wsjrgoieg I...you...my god, I don't even know where to start with it, I'm so in awe. *_* <3
First of all, Kame's family... I love so much that you love them, because I love them, too. <33 In my head, I have their personalities kind of mapped out from other times I've written them (mostly in RP format...), and looking at the finished piece, I really wish I'd been able to focus on them more instead of just Jin and Kame, because I feel like there's so much untapped potential there that I could have taken advantage of. So for you to say that they were your favorite part of the fic...well, apart from making me wish there was more of them in there for you to enjoy, it just touches me real deep~ <33

...Embedded in that 8D there is the feeling of omg, I love your fics so much I can't believe you took the time to read and comment on mine lwejgeig that's just awesome ;_; <3 Just so you know. xD;
aslkdjalksdj trust me, if I see a 60,000 word fic with the words "exchange student" in the summary, I'm there. I was really excited to see this. Kame being kind of a brat at the start only cemented my love.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH ♥____♥ This fic was incredibly special and poignant to me to read as so much of my life has been extremely defined by various times spent studying abroad and by drawing on your own experiences you perfectly captured the feelings and struggles of that so beautifully T____T...which made it admittedly bittersweet to read, especially the parts about long distance or doomed romances formed abroad and Jin's moments of lost despondency and alienation after the initial thrill were just gashjdkhsdfkjl; perfect and so realistic T_______T ♥.
Also Kame's family were so wonderful and happy agdjkgfkldh I kept making silly happy faces at all their interactions. Jin's passion for Japanese culture and his desire to trace his family was so apt of him too and also hit other personal chords for me T___T .
Thank you so much for this, it was so beautiful and I'm also just in awe at you managing to write such a deliciously long fic ♥ ♥.
Eeeee, I'm so glad~ Lol, I'm so self-conscious about my writing style, so to hear that all of that came through, it makes me feel like I accomplished what I set out to do, and that makes me really happy. x3 And lol, you say 'doomed romances,' but...I'm a sucker for happy endings, so nothing really ended up being doomed. xD; In some ways, I feel like that may have taken away from some of the realism, but...I know people who have made it work, so...*shrug* :3
But yay, I'm glad you liked Kame's family, because I like Kame's family, too. x3 <3 If I could do this again, I'd definitely feature them a lot more, because they really are wonderful. And Jin was really fun and interesting to write this way. Not only did his experiences in some ways mirror my own (and by extension, anyone who's spent time abroad, as you've said :)), but...now that everything's said and done, I can see that twisting his background, previous study abroad experience, and love for foreign culture in an AU context like this was one of the things that helped me cope

Oh yes the romance here definitely wasn't doomed ...those were mine XD;. And the way you wrote it wasn't unrealistic because I know people who've made situations like that work too...although they are the dedicated minority but happy endings are always very yay!! :D!
Your Jin was really wonderful and I adored the cultural reversal twist you put into this AU for Jin's character. And gaining better insight into someone's character or how you write them is always really exciting ^_^!!
It did...especially because I've always wanted to visit my family's graves in Kyoto and Sapporo. The themes were incredibly handled <333 you did a lovely job darling!!
