but, so far as I know, placing sth on a personal blog is not the same thing as a publication. It's more like reading sth in public, or giving a free copy to a friend or friends. Hence, you would not be breaking any rights.
This rejection note you received was encouraging. I would try again with some other journal, too.
No, that's not true, actually. Publishing to a public blog is the same as breaking first publication rights.
I've depleted all the markets in non-genre novelette-length work for this piece. All that remains are small press publishers, which would only look at it as part of a larger collection.
