Trip Summary, Light Time, and 2017 Reading

Survived Christmas. Handled/derailed two incidents as well as I could have expected, had a good visit with my sister, ran 8 miles on Christmas morning with virtually no walking despite the added excitement of hills, made preliminary arrangements with sister regarding Mom's upcoming surgery after care and discussed same with Mom. Brothers and sister

I did the Goodreads reading challenge this year. I set it for 50 books initially; in June I reset it to 30. The final tally was 33. I found it kind of motivating, considering how many thousands of words I read at work each year. Not to mention fanfic.

50 is my knee jerk response although that works out to just over 4 books a month. Still, considering the off line time and if I read some shorter fiction (I do have several issues of Uncanny Magazine to make it through), then it's still fully reasonable. I'm rather amused because even 50 sounds simultaneously much too low to the pre-fandom part of my brain and like a daunting challenge given the other reading I do now days. :P
