It would be too depressing if the writers kept them at DM for another season unhappy in their careers.
I agree. I can see them staying if there's some compelling reason -- mortgage to pay off, kids to support, etc (sort of like Stanley's situation) but for two youngish people who are in love and don't like their jobs to stay at those jobs... it doesn't make sense.
I am sure that Greg Daniels has some compelling reason up his sleeve, that will keep them there. But gosh it would be wild if they took two of the five leads and gave them their own show!
Jim and Pam ain't going anywhere. I don't even think the spinoff will have any of our regulars, honestly. Plus, as far as anyone leaving, Jenna has said it isn't her or Steve.
I have thought about the possibility of Pam taking summer classes in NYC or Philly while Jim has to be there as a space saver while Ryan is in rehab. But that's as far as I think either of those two are going from the office. It's just TV rules.
Ooh, the summer. I forgot about the summer. That's when she'll take classes. That's what Jim will be supportive of - she has to go away for two months or something like that, and he supports her even though it means she's away.
OR, Pam's pregnant and so they have to stay at DM for the insurance or something like that. That would be a fast forward for their storylines. I kind of hope they don't go that route.
I really doubt they'll pull the pregnancy card on Pam. Mainly because at this point in her story, cute little JAM babies aside, it would be a total trap for her and I don't want to think of anything in their relationship to be treated in the same way her relationship with Roy was. While in RL this stuff happens all the time, as realistically as I feel the show writes, it's still a show and, like I said, TV rules!
I'm curious if the engagement will happen this season. I've actually been pretty convinced against it because it's being so talked up that ultimately, it seems like it just can't pan out so easily. Not that they'd break up(which I personally don't think will ever happen), just that it'd be postponed or something.
I really do hope Ryan's just going to rehab or something. Cokehead Ryan has grown on me in all his douchey glory, I really don't want him to be the one to go away.
I hope you're right about the pregnancy. I'd love that storyline someday, but not yet.
Maybe they get engaged, but don't get married right away because Pam has her Philly internship, and then Jim has an NYC assignment, and they don't want to rush the wedding? So we end up with some "long" engagement angst?
I like Cokehead Ryan too. Setting aside that an actual coke problem would be nothing to joke about, it's made him funny. I just hope that they don't totally change his character the way they did to Jan.
I know! The more I think about it, the more confused I get. I wish there were more episodes left. I can't stand that we get one more and then we have to wait four more months!!
