"That basically means that, in this country, I have expensive tastes." I know where you are coming from on this. I think that, as a general rule, people in this country don't value quality as much as elsewhere. How that happened I'm not even sure, I just don't understand it.
Efficiency and price, I guess. There is absolutely no way to buy a home in Western Europe for the equivalent of, $200,000. 500 and up is more like it. So that's an advantage here - homes are affortable, at the cost of quality & sturdy built, but affordable.
Me too. I bet there are some really cool villa-like homes in Ug too. I've always loved the African/Arabian style homes that are whitewashed and have arches and very private courtyards.
