Nutella Croissants, Picky Kittens and The Single Life

It's 2am Friday morning and my weekend has just begun. Wheeeee! Completed another essential step in the big project and feel like rewarding myself with a Nutella-Croissant and some middle of the night LJ time. Hey, there's just so much you can do at this hour, even in this city... Or is that, especially in this city? People tend to be surprised how ( Read more... )

I have a hard time finding people I really click with mentally. In my mind all of them seem so young.

And about cats, I always joke that I'm secretly insecure and that's why I'm a dog person: I just need the attention. ;p

Yes, and part of it definitely is just personality - even as a kid I was far more interested in adult talk and older kids than hanging out with [most] peers. I do notice the overall cultural difference too though and think it's related to a number of things. For instance, the youth cult is part of this culture. "Stay in touch with your inner child" and "never grow up, look young" etc. An Asian friend once said she cannot imagine grown people running around in Burger King crowns, Mickey Mouse ears and Santa hats. Hehe.

Awwww, the dog thing. I can see how this would make sense but them they can be so cute too.

- mmm Nutella! so freakin yummy. :)
- aww, kitties are cute. i admire their independence too, but i'm still more of a dog lover.
- ah, i agree with your views on dating. i've never gotten into it; just isn't really done where i'm from i guess. but it's all the rage here in the U.S, and probably ALWAYS will be. what's your ethnicity again?
- i love how *so* many places stay open 24hrs here in nyc. :)

I'm German but grew up on 3 continents {none of them North America}.
NYC must be THE place for the 24 hour thing. =) I would absolutely love that, being such a nightowl. I've visited but never lived there.

Oh god, YES! The fucking dating thing is so stupid, LOL! And everyone's like 5-10 years backwards in terms of life experience. It's one of the 50 things that make people appear so dumb.

*Chuckle*... I am often amazed at how grown people act like children, or uni age people act like euros would at 14. It's very strange to see. Part of it is the drinking issue, I think. I've seen other expats here on LJ write about it.
