That was wonderful. I loved the idea of it. It was innovative and creative. And Owen and OZ...perfect. And you even got some Jack/Ianto action in there. My favorite line: “I was wondering, Sir . . . would you like to explore your childhood fantasy land? Or would you like to ride in with your hero at the last minute?”

Thank you for a great read.

The Oz books and movies always kind of freaked me out as a kid, which fits in perfectly with my idea of Owen, actually.

Yeah, Jack and Ianto had a lot of fun role-playing that night. :)

Oh that was cute! Although now I'm curious as to what Jack's childhood fantasy was.

Thanks! After I started writing it, I thought perhaps they should each have a different Roald Dahl book as a favorite, but the lamppost was too strongly Narnia and Tosh on the dragon was a must. If they had been Roald Dahl groupies, though, Ianto would have kept the BFG b/c BFG is about happy dreams and Ianto strikes me as a nightmare-haver, Tosh would have "Matilda" b/c they are both brilliant, Owen would have "The Witches" b/c I see him as someone who likes interesting bad guys and he would have craved the relationship the little boy had w/ his grandmother, and Suzie would have "James and the Giant Peach" b/c I think she probably ran away from home several times as a kid. Okay, that's probably too much analysis for a fic, but children's lit is a lot of fun!

Oh I agree, that lamppost just screamed Narnia.

I've never read any Roahld Dahl, seen things around of course but couldn't comment on preferred reads

and trust me, there can never be too much analysis / 'research' - because otherwise we may just end up too OOC (that's my excuse for repeatedly watching TW/DW and I'm sticking with it)

Thanks! The lamppost totally made me think of Mr. Tumnus, and the rest just followed from there. Tosh and Falkor go together like peas and carrots!

And everyone gets to pick their own favorite fantasy for Jack. I'm thinking something with an octopus, myself. It's the tentacles.
