MEME: Don't Stop Believing! (And Happy Birthday, Adjovi!!!)

Okay, so Proposition 8 was upheld. We take two steps forward and two steps back, and it's frustrating as hell. What we need to lift our spirits are some cheesy pop songs. It is also adjovi's birthday, and she lifts my spirits, so that's a double whammy to the forces of cruddy awfulness. Here's a meme I made up (I'm sure it exists somewhere in the ( Read more... )

Oh, I liked Glee. Can't wait until the fall season starts.

Three cheesey songs. I tend to lean towards the quirky.

Well, because I love new wave, I'd have to start with "Happy Birthday" by Altered Images. Okay, I doubt that it's well-known, but the high pitched vocals and the bubbly energy of the song make it one of the cheesiest songs I can think of. I first heard it when I watched Sixteen Candles. It's the song playing when Samantha fills out the sex survey in study hall. First of all I love that movie, and my sister and I will recite lines at random times. Second of all, I like playing that song on my birthday and dancing around the room like an idiot ( ... )

Another "Glee" fan FTW! Yay!!

Hmmm...does Marcy Playground sing "Sex and Candy"? I don't think I know the Saturday song. Definitely know the Sixteen Candles song. M made a cute vid to that one year for a friend of ours.

And "Hotel California" is a totally awesome song! I love it very much and always sing along whenever it comes on. I used a line from it as the title to one of my earliest fics.

Yes, that was their big hit in the 1990's. Mike got me listening to more of their songs because he knew that I'd like their lyrics. Their song about the early days of the herion trade -- titled "Poppies" -- is another one of my faves.
