The ultimate chavwagon?

May 28, 2005 13:36

Excuse crap photographic quality (phone camera at night, I've managed to crop'n'shop some of the more gratuitous horror) but isn't this the ultimate chav vehicle?

(Seen in York on Wednesday night)

What the crispy choad badgering fuck is it supposed to be? It looks like a van that had an accident with a transformer, a tube of plastic cement and a sub-lierate pre-schooler under heavy sedation.

Fuctifino, guv, fuctifino. I think it started life as one of those little Nissan vans, before someone shat on it with fibreglass diarrhoea and it got jumped by an albino Batmobile.

I bet it's good for at least 180mph and has 750bhp at the wheels and does 0-60 inside 3 seconds, like all barrywagons.

Good. Grief. That's quite the Xtreme vehicle.

Oooh yeah, probably got at least a 1.3 litre engine buried in there ;)

That is undoubtedly a ride that has been well and truly pimped.

I guess you've seen http://www.barryboys.co.uk? ;)

(Incidentally, sushidog claimed last night that you and I "share a mind" ;P)

I think we may well share certain aspects of mind. But there are some major differences (like me being a somewhat camp guardian-reader for a start, and never mind the shopping addiction). But of course we definitely share a general worship of sushidog...

You know, I'm not even sure sushidog had sushi last night. ;)

I saw that too! andyguest and I were driving across the city 'cos Skeldergate was closed and I think it was near Ousebridge. Very strange vehicle.

However, I saw an even sillier chavmobile down in Burford. It was something utterly crap like a 1.1 Ford Fiesta, with spoilers made out of what looked like cardboard. The colours of the car and the spoilers varied horrendously, and they scraped along the ground when it went round a corner. I laughed a lot...

Nova (as ever) barried up to look like a Metro 6R4!

Nah, that is actually a Metro made to look like a Metro 6R4. I had two of the buggers (Metros not 6R4s) so should know. Except for me I did it the other way around. So my 1990 one had a tweaked 1.4 16v Twin Cam and five speed close ratio gear box, sorted suspension and brakes. But very little done to the appearance (except for a little bit more rubber). I think it's better to have a car that looks crap but goes than the reverse. The other was an MG Metro sporting the usual A series mods.

Some of the comments made me laugh. The posters themselves appear to be to some extent barry boys. Saying it looked like a Clio with boxier styling. When I first saw one of those mid engined Clios I thought, hey someone's done a 6R4 but has rounded the corners off.

You should go to Japanese car shows if you want to see more of their bizarre van type things. That one's quite subtle - at least it's a plain colour...

They also do that kind thing to HGVs...
