Rating: R
Summary: The real reason Gwaine wanted that honey.
A/N: This popped into my head as I was watching the ep and has been poking at me ever since. Just a silly thing.
Gwaine can see Lancelot lead Merlin's horse away behind his eyes. He can't fight the frustration, the feeling that it should be him taking Merlin back to Gaius. But since they were all knighted Merlin has spent far more time with Lancelot than him, and there's clearly a connection there, something from before his arrival at Camelot.
That's not to say things have stopped between them, there are still laughs huffed into mouths, and fingers tangled into shirts and tongues and teeth, but something has changed. He's mulling this over when a low buzzing breaks into his thoughts.
He's instantly back to the first time he woke up in Merlin's bed, watching as Merlin's smile lit up his entire face and the feeling of utter fascination by him. Merlin had set the tray laden with breakfast next to the bed and rolled down the sheets covering Gwaine. He'd deftly undone the bandage around his leg and applied more honey, muttering under his breath as he did so.
His cock had started to stir and Merlin had flushed wonderfully and Gwaine had pulled him down and they'd spent the next extended while getting up to all sorts of lovely things, Merlin's long fingers leaving sticky sweet patches on his skin.
Gwaine wants honey. He says something to the knights, laughs it off as hunger, plays it up when the occupants of the hive try to defend their queen, but he gets a piece of honeycomb for his troubles, sucking the sweet liquid. It warms him, gives him a bit of hope that Merlin will be alright, that they'll all be alright.
