The Golden Compass - Philip Pullman (His Dark Materials Trilogy)  Pretty good. I plan on reading the rest of the series soonish.

Life is pretty much the same old same old.  Work and home have been pretty consistent since Christmas.

The Girl Who Owned A City - O. T. Nelson   A plague has killed everybody over the age of 12 and Lisa takes charge to better the life of the kids on her street.  Basically, Lisa figures out where to get food and how to form a militia to fight against the other street gangs.  It was pretty good until the end when I thought she got way to cocky.  I ( Read more... )

I'm scheduled 'til 12:30 tonight.  There is no reason for the store to be open until midnight, it makes poor economic sense.  If you want to make money, paying employees for an extra two hours when no one is shopping just doesn't make sense.

Since about Thursday the weather has been crappy.  We woke up one day and it was snowing enough to stick to cars, trees, and roofs.  For the rest of the weekend and through at least today it has remained cloudy with occasional snow, rain, or freezing rain (today).  I'm already sick of it.  I also hate how it gets dark by 5.
