Strength Training Homework

I need to write a strength training program for a multi-event track athlete who's goal is to increase her upper body strength. What kind of weights do women usually use? This is someone that has never done a strength training program before. I'm assuming her lower body is stronger because of track. I'm having her do 4 sets of 6 reps with 2 min. ( Read more... )

If you're doing more of a circuit training repetition you can start with something as low as 10 pounds because the continuous movement will wear the body down.

otherwise just start w/ten, if that's easy, pump it up to 12 and so forth until you find the right weight. trial and err process.

benchpress just start with the bar nekkid then buildup from there as well. :) That's how i was broken in at least heh.

How many reps were you doing and how long were you resting?

with circuit training you do 30 minutes no rest.

So you only do ten but you do like 15-25 reps of your basic curl straight into triceps straight into free weight chest press then repeat the whole thing three times with no rest. So you design a combination to hit all the muscles and rinse rather repeat. The goal is to build endurance muscle over pure strength muscle.
