I started this dress on Friday afternoon, and finished it today. It was fun to make, not too difficult, and I did a couple of things I've never done before.

I bought some fabric at Jo-Ann a few weeks ago. It had nifty skeletons all over it in a sort of dia de los muertos style. I had no specific plans for it other than I wanted to make something in probably late September to wear during the Halloween season ( Read more... )

After much frustration with the picture hanging last night, Sean had a brilliant idea involving string and the laser level, and I got everything set up tonight.
I still want to paint the room (more like need at this point with all the extra holes in the wall), but I'll get to that some other time.

Love/hate this dress. And learned a few things in the process of making it.
This dress is a mash-up pattern! First time I tried that.
Bodice is McCall's 5927, skirt is Vogue 8723.

I decided to tackle McCall's 5731 for my oldest's Ren fest costume this year. 
She picked out all the fabric and trim, and I started this project in late March/early April with plans to do the Ren fest this weekend.
