What seems to work well on other communities is to use lj-cut tags around any spoiler information that is less than a week old.

One or two weeks sounds good to me.

I think a week is entirely too long. Using lj-cuts on the day (or days, if the show airs on different days in different places) that the new eps air is more than enough. Otherwise, we might as well have a policy that every comment on every episode has to be under an lj-cut, because, by the time the week is up on one episode, and we can stop using lj-cuts, a new episode has aired, and we're back to using lj-cuts.

I'm one of those Europeans mentioned and I agree with the three days rule. I usually have the episode one, maybe two days later. If the lj-cuts stop by wednesday, it's more than enough.

Since it's in that strange international broadcast space, lj-cuts seem like the polite thing for people to do.

Yes, I meant lj-cutting until after it's released internationally, or possibly after a boxed set is released?

My vote would be cut-tags for at least a week after the episode airs. I don't see what the big deal about having to cut-tag things is, anyway; I'm on some comms where you have to cut-tag any discussion of episodes, and it's not that big of a hassle, it's a kindness to international viewers, and when communities get really active it saves lots of scrolling.
