[Well, guess who didn't see this post on the network! Negi was all geared up and ready to go exploring the city, but passing by the clinic rooms on his way out the door, he caught something out of the corner of his eye through a slightly open door. Stopping, he peeked through before pushing it open further, eyes wide.]
[Al had been dozing a little, his badly bruised arm resting on the sheets as he stared out the window. He had some of the color back in his cheeks, but he looked a lot worse than he actually felt.]
Hey.
[... there was the acute sense of letting someone down. Al had made sure Negi wasn't careless, but Alphonse had allowed himself to get distracted.]
[Slipping through the door, Negi closed it behind him and dropped his pack to the floor. Exploring and scavenging could wait; this was more important. He approached the side of the bed, worry overtaking everything else. Al's arm...looked really bad.]
[Al was a bit glad the arm wasn't the gory mess from before. He really didn't want Negi to have nightmares... He reached out with his good hand to ruffle the kid's hair, reassuringly.]
A monster, down by the river. It caught me off guard before I could clap, and broke my arm.
[There is no knock on the door. Vincent just slinks in and comes closer to the bed ... and Mikazuki suddenly pops out of the collar of the cape and jumps onto the bed. She is a full grown cat now, lithe and graceful, her fur gleaming black and white, and her green eyes never leaving Alphonse as she sits on the bed and just ... looks at him, not unlike her owner.]

[... and now he's embarassed about that, because it means he's getting slow.]

And I am quite sure that whoever knows you will be a lot more worried by your cover story than by the truth.

You've grown up so pretty...
[Al looks up to Vincent's serious face and offers a reassuring half-smile, holding out his bruised arm for inspection.]
