Divinity Church, New Gotham, Saturday

There were a lot of people who'd wanted invitations to the wedding of a member of the Gordon clan to a member of the Wayne family. They were out of luck; and party-crashers were going to be disappointed too, because there were a lot of off-duty cops acting as security around the church, to discourage any paparazzi (or any criminals who thought they ( Read more... )

The organist is playing something wedding-ish, there are still open seats, and it's a good time to mingle with other people.

Momoko had insisted that Jaime dress up. Suit, tie, everything. He didn't actually know Barbara Gordon that well, but you didn't skip your ex-girlfriend's sister's wedding. And you especially didn't skip your current-girlfriend's best friend's sister's wedding.

So Jaime was trying not to fidget with his tie as he walked through the doors into the church and pauses, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the light.

"Hey, boo," Dinah said, approaching him with a smile and a program in hand. "You look a little stunned." Ha!

"Still trying to recover from Momoko this morning," Jaime answered with a little chuckle. "She's been... energetic."

That was a word for it.

Barbara did not have cold feet. She was not panicking. Neither did Dick.

They were both quietly freaking out that they didn't just go to the justice of the peace and hold a party later, though.

Helena was stalking around in black, looking ready to hurt anyone who tried to mess this up.

Dinah was in yellow, greeting people and bouncing, in between trying to talk Barbara off the ceiling.

Alfred was looking contented and calm as he handed out programs.

... Jason and Tim were nowhere to be seen. They were probably Up to Something.

[if you want to talk to Dinah or one of the bat-crew before the ceremony, this is the place to do it.]

Priestly snuck backstage to check in and make sure things were going smoothly. Because, you know, that was anywhere even remotely within his responsibilities as the best friend of one of the bridesmaids.

He was maybe just trying to get noticed ASAP in his swanky yellow suit.

"Ladies!" he greeted -- because bombastic greetings were totally part of sneaking around. "You look amazing! You too, Alfred."

"Priestly!" Dinah squealed and hugged him, as Alfred said, "Thank you, sir. And you look quite stylish as well."

Helena was arranging Barbara's flowers, and waved at Priestly with a grin; Barbara blinked at him. Possibly an SOS of save me from all this pageantry!

"Barbara just realized how many people came, she's trying not to go into shock," Dinah said, extremely helpfully. Yup. "And you look fantastic!"

Priestly gave Barbara a sympathetic look. "Weren't you involved in the invitation process?" He asked. "Or did a bunch of people crash? I can kick them out."

Well, no. He couldn't. There were, like, super types out there.

The Ceremony blondecanary May 14 2016, 18:48:05 UTC
The bridesmaids walked down first, with Dinah and then Helena last, escorted by Jason and Tim. Who thankfully did not appear to messed up their outfits too much, doing whatever they did.

Barbara looked incredibly gorgeous, as her dad walked her down the aisle in her most high-tech chair.

Dick looked kind of stunned speechless. And happy.

"Dearly beloved..."

[react or gossip here, more to come in a couple hours.]

Barbara was finally -- finally! - calm again, because seeing Dick at the end of the aisle had reminded her what this was all for. Her dad kissed her cheek as he let her go, then slipped into the family pew.

"I, Barbara Gordon, take thee, Richard Grayson...."

Commissioner Gordon and Alfred both looked teary-eyed.

If no one restrained Priestly, there would be very loud, probably inappropriate whooping when the vows were done.

Momoko was sparkling. "SO ROMANTIC!!!" She somehow whispered that, don't worry.

If anybody pointed out that Jono looked a little bit shellshocked in the wake of watching a wedding, he would probably be torn between punching them and running away, or trying to wedge himself under one of the pews.

He'd probably be over the flailing by the time it was his own turn. Really.

Momoko looked about the church. So many people! She wondered how many were superheroes, of course, and how many others knew that they were in a building full of metas.

...

And let's be honest, she was also scouring the crowds for the TOTALLY INEVITABLE super-villain who was going to try to ruin this happy day for Ms Barbara. Try.

"Ladies and gentleman," Helena called out.

"MRS. AND MR. BARBARA GORDON," Dinah chorused out with her, as Dick and Barbara entered the ballroom. They both looked too happy and preoccupied to register that until the laughter started.

"And that Dick guy!" Jason called out, to more giggling.

Golden champagne was flowing, the music was playing around the tables, and the cake had a a really appropriate and cute topper on it.

At least Priestly's whooping here was less inappropriate.

He'd managed to get at least one glass of champagne (god he loved champagne. Had he known he loved champagne?) in him before he finally cornered Dinah to drag her away from her bridesmaid duties.

"Wanna cut a rug with me?"

"I am completely up for scissoring up the dance floor," Dinah said, beaming delightedly. "IT WENT OKAY. NOBODY GOT IN A FIGHT!" Woooooo!

Someone started playing 'At Last', and Barbara and Dick were on the dance floor yet again.
