Divinity Church, New Gotham, Saturday

There were a lot of people who'd wanted invitations to the wedding of a member of the Gordon clan to a member of the Wayne family. They were out of luck; and party-crashers were going to be disappointed too, because there were a lot of off-duty cops acting as security around the church, to discourage any paparazzi (or any criminals who thought they ( Read more... )

"Ladies and gentleman," Helena called out.

"MRS. AND MR. BARBARA GORDON," Dinah chorused out with her, as Dick and Barbara entered the ballroom. They both looked too happy and preoccupied to register that until the laughter started.

"And that Dick guy!" Jason called out, to more giggling.

Golden champagne was flowing, the music was playing around the tables, and the cake had a a really appropriate and cute topper on it.

At least Priestly's whooping here was less inappropriate.

He'd managed to get at least one glass of champagne (god he loved champagne. Had he known he loved champagne?) in him before he finally cornered Dinah to drag her away from her bridesmaid duties.

"Wanna cut a rug with me?"

"I am completely up for scissoring up the dance floor," Dinah said, beaming delightedly. "IT WENT OKAY. NOBODY GOT IN A FIGHT!" Woooooo!

Someone started playing 'At Last', and Barbara and Dick were on the dance floor yet again.

If anyone expected Priestly to flinch at the slow song, they would be disappointed. He didn't even blink, just offered his elbow to lead her out to the dance floor.

"No fights," he said. "No attacks, no runaways, nothing broken. I'd say you maid a damn good bride, Ms. Lance."

"Whatever happens now? Happens," Dinah said expansively, taking his elbow, and snagging another glass of champagne with her other hand. "Because now they're married, so ha, it can not be undone! Awwww." This in response to Dick standing on the edge of her chair, so they twirled together. Dinah draped an arm over Priestly's shoulders. "Loooooong time coming."

"They are adorable," Priestly agreed, tucking his arms around Dinah's waist. "How drunk d'you suppose they've gotten so far?"

"I don't think Barbara's drunk at all, just reeeeally happy," Dinah said, grinning. She offered him her champagne. "Dick, on the other hand, looks like he's dizzy from more than the twirling on that chair." She grinned. "Plus I know he was still kind of hungover this morning, Jason was looking really smug about that."

"Helluva bachelor party, huh?" Priestly asked, sipping her champagne. Champagne was good. "That actually seems sort of poorly planned, getting the bride and/or groom sloshed the night before their big life event."

"I think it was so they couldn't elope? Or run away?" Dinah speculated, swaying with the music. "Barbara mostly just had ice cream and went to bed early, we should've given her more booze." She sighed and put her head on Priestly's shoulder. "This is gonna be weird. Er. Weirder. Dick will be living in the Tower! It's just... weird."

"There's nothing wrong with a good elopement. They should probably still let everyone party, since it's all paid for, though. We could get her drunk later? Throw her a post-bachlorette party."

"See, that is an excellent idea." 'At Last' had now segued into 'Celebration', and Dinah snickered as Jason started a conga line of Dick's exes. "I'm so thrilled they didn't interrupt the ceremony, jeez."

"Were they actually invited?" Priestly asked. "Or did they just show up? Like with some kind of Dick's wedding homing signal?"

Dinah cackled, and took another slug of her drink. "I think they came as all these other people's plus-ones. With the collusion of Jason and Tim. Because they're very evil little brothers."

And Barbara liked them all anyway, so.... Not warning Dick? That was the fun part.

"Maaaaaaaaaaan. Remind me to never get on your brothers-in-law's bad sides," Priestly said. Were the brothers of your sister's husband still your brothers-in-law? Maybe not. Eh. ". . . D'ya think any of them are single? The exes, not the brothers-in-law."

"They so rarely get along, but when they do, it's really dangerous for everybody." Dinah snickered. She didn't have a better definition for what Helena's adopted brothers were to her either, especially now that her adopted mom/sister was married to one of them.

"Probably? Pretty sure the two redheads who aren't aliens are Margot and Aliki." She bit her lip, looking torn. "They're French. And acrobats. Aaaand cat burglars."

So, Priestly's type, sorta. In the way that they were every guy's type.
