"Are you going to go help the children hurt by the Giant Salami, Dad?"

The above from: Sarah Ann Braner, daughter of pediatrician, hysterical lecturer and international aide worker, Dana Braner MD. the way I've understood it recently is that if there is a sentient god, he/she will not interfer with our free will, even if it is to destroy each other and the world we live in. the reason some people are born with no choice is because of the choices of others. Until we all make choices that benefit humanity as a whole (and thus realize that we are in fact gods) there will continue to be suffering. God will not interfer on a global level because then what would be the point of us all having free will. Or, there is karma and we're all screwed.

Dr. Braner is indeed hilarious. I spent a few days in his peds ICU during my medic school clinicals, and got to see him conduct rounds. As the entire cloud of residents, attendings, med students, etc, followed behind, Dr. Braner slid from doorway to doorway on a rolling office chair. After the discussion of each patient was finished, he'd push off for the next room. The best part was when he literally launched himself across the ICU.

... oh, yeah, and he seems like a sharp doc, too.

You're lucky, that must have been great. I had to share him with an entire trauma conference.
