At 2:00 this afternoon, I had my church booked for the wedding.

At 3:30 this afternoon, my priest called back to inform me that we "have a problem."

Apparently, I'm no longer listed as being a member of the church. AND since I am "not living at home," I would need to register with a church where I'm living and attend services long enough so that ( Read more... )

you can seriously write to the diocese about it. they're kinda good with HR issues like that.

Since my dad works for the diocese, we're not pursuing that route...
Rich's church is pretty liberal (United Church of Christ), so he's going to give them a call maybe this week and see what our options are.

I really wish I had been wrong about Father Sempa. Just because he screwed my family multiple times, I was hoping he wouldn't do the same to you. =(

"You need to get your ass to church." Really? I'd write a complaint letter anyway--screw the fact that your dad works for the Diocese. And I KNOW you would come up with an excellent and strongly-worded complaint letter.

My parents keep telling me that James and I should elope, but I want my pretty pretty princess special day. And you shouldn't elope, either, because you want your awesome Halloween wedding. Don't back down just because some Catholic priests are douchebags.
