just in case there was any doubt, this is me officially denouncing the Catholic church....
At 2:00 this afternoon, I had my church booked for the wedding.
At 3:30 this afternoon, my priest called back to inform me that we "have a problem."
Apparently, I'm no longer listed as being a member of the church. AND since I am "not living at home," I would need to register with a church where I'm living and attend services long enough so that when "my" church calls to ask if I go there, the priest can figure out who I am and let them know whether or not I have HIS PERMISSION to get married at MY church! ::cough, cough...:: BULLSHIT! ::cough, cough:::
I explained that I haven't technically moved yet; my permanent address is still in Wilkes-Barre. Then he demanded to know why he hasn't seen me in years. I explained that I just graduated in December, prior to which I lived in Kutztown for 4 and a half years. He asked me again why he hasn't seen me, and I explained that I've been back and forth between Kutztown and here. He said I still need to join another parish and told me, "you need to get your ass to church." Seriously, he said that. Which makes me really sad, because I used to think he was pretty cool. (Nikki, I guess you were right.)
So, I'm back to square one.
At least my grandparents decided that having the wedding in some other Christian church would cause them to act like I'm dead...
