that't what my parents did with my pony and horse, while i wasn't home no less. i'm still ouchy about it to this day (it's been over 10 years since it happened), and apparently that makes me the one with the problem (according to my family).

the best part is, everyone blames it on me. i "didn't love" them anymore so they had to be sold. gee, sorry that whole bipolar thing that everyone ignored got in the way and made me "not love" them anymore. because "not loving" them meant that i didn't ride them every day, took care of them every day, and went out to the fields just to hang out with them every day.

sorry to rant in your LJ. it just pisses me off.

gawd yes. so many times i read what you write & think that. my dad can continue an argument *all day* too if he wants to, and very easily comes back to it even after you sleep on stuff. who DOES that?

i'm thinking it must be the elderly australian farming male mentality??? idk.

apparently my grandfather was WORSE. combine bad attitude with physical violence. least my dad's not physical, but sometimes i wonder as he's quite happy to emotionally BATTER at anyone until they either LEAVE or give in.

I'm of two opinions about this. I will never sell my horses. EVER, but I can understand not wanting a good horse to go to waste. I do not think 16 is a time to be retiring a horse. My Stallion was 22 when he died from a snake bit and still doing full show work and breeding. He was extremely well kept, coddle to some extent, but he looked like a 12 year old at that age!

That pony would probably be better used by someone who would lavish it with attention and time. If they don't have the time, better to sell it to someone who does. But, at the same time, I would never have more horses than I can affectively work and look after on my own.
