I agree 100%. It's really disheartening that racism is still so prevalent, especially when it's painted over like any other preference; y'know, "Doesn't like tattoos" or "Doesn't want children." A friend of mine was registered with a dating site, and she put her preference as white. When I asked her why, she said she didn't want a bunch of "uneducated, gangsta black guys" writing to her. After some prodding, she did acknowledge that there were plenty of, uh, non-gangsta black/latino/whatever guys out there she'd be excluding, but she didn't understand what I thought was the issue.
My thoughts, of course, immediately went to the overwhelming number of uneducated, gangsta, trashy white boys on those sites/in real life/ugh.
I find it very interesting. On the flip side there're girls who're into asian guys--which i think is awesome.
My black friend had a similar knee jerk reaction to age AND race.
"I don't want some 40 year old indian guy writing me"
That operates under the assumption that 40 year old indian men are into her and have some how annoyed her in the past, but long story short i think it's ultimately their loss.
The frustrating thing about Ohio is that nobody's ever comfortable in their own skin. I get frustrated when my sister says she wishes she was white because she doesn't like being different.

There's no way to justify it.
