I've been researching grad schools lately. I'm trying to avoid UK, but nothing else is doable. It's the cheapest and I could see my family and friends. My "dream" school would be the University of British Columbia. It's in one of the regions I want to live in and it's the second-cheapest as far as tuition. Right there with ya. Want out of this country, or at LEAST Kentucky. I think British Columbia sounds fabulous, too, and I have a feeling you'd do well there!

All I can really advise you to do is similar to what I'm doing currently: Saving up money and succeeding in the workplace and fixing my shit and improving mental/emotional and physical health and just clinging to this goal of going to Finland. It's slow progress right now, but it's going to happen! And I think it's a good idea to plan things out a bit.

But yes, people like us are meant for more than comfortable, ordinary lives. And there's nothing wrong with having a relatively-uneventful life, but I think we'd both feel more productive and successful taking a big leap and doing something amazing!

Anyway we totally need to hang sometime soon! Hopefully we can find a time when we're both NOT busy and both feel social, haha. <3
