yo mama

With the thought of possible pregnancy and motherhood on the horizon, my mind has been whirling and twirling. Most of you will probably think I'm a whackadoodle. I don't fret about everything I eat or drink when I'm pregnant, granted I'm not out drinking (I don't do that anyway) or eating pounds of mercury filled fish, but if I want Mt. Dew or ( Read more... )

motherhood, gripes

Rock on. Though new to it myself, I'm of the opinion that motherhood is hard enough without us moms turning on one another and trying to knock each other down for our choices. The most important thing is that our kids are healthy and thriving! :)

For real, we're always the hardest on each other. Girls are just mean. ;)

I know! It's insane. 7 just sounds so ... big. And she's so tall, it's getting hard for her to curl up in my lap and that makes me incredibly sad.

It does suck that mothers are against one another. I think if kids grow up healthy and happy that is all that matters.

I had 2 c-sections also and didn't breast feed, yet my girls are healthy. They actually had less sickness when little than some of their breast fed friends.

I think we made it through babyhood with only a cold, mine didn't even have ear infections until they were older.

No ear infections ever here yet, *knock on wood*

UGH! I got SO MAD at my mom on Saturday night for talking about how stupid it is not to breastfeed, right in front of a girl (yes, girl, I think she's 17?) who was giving her baby a bottle. Have some tact, woman. The girl looked at me and said, "I tried, it's just so hard!"

And dammit, it *is* hard. (but it's also very cheap, hehe)

Yes, it's cheapness was what had me considering it with Emma, that and the nutrionist at the WIC office was basically berating me for not wanting to do it. Stupid woman. I called her the Boob Nazi. :D

I was lucky enough to have a personal lactation consultant (she's a dear friend of my mom!), and even *she* called some of those folks the Breastfeeding Gestapo. When she found out I was delivering at Methodist, she said, "Ohhhh... they HATE me there!" and boy did they!

But she was SO encouraging, she let me use bottles and pacifiers and supplement when I just got overwhelmed.

But hey, I was a formula baby, and I'm not freakishly malformed or unintelligent, so, ya know... ;) LOL

It's pretty sad if someone comes onto your journal and gives you grief for not believing in what they believe in or to be told you didn't really have your children. How rude and mean is that? Everyone has a right to raise their children how they feel is best and as far as I can tell your children came out pretty good to me. ;)
