Fire and Brimstone - entrance log

Rem was happily cleaning up after a nice dinner. Nothing better to finish off an evening than a good meal. Knowing she didn't have anything to worry about either was a bonus to boost her mood. Things were actually seeming kind of calm ( Read more... )

Waking up in the cushy seat of something like a sand steamer had been unexpected, but not terrible. It wasn't Heaven or Hell or Purgatory or whatever special place God reserved for sinners like himself, no, but... Death hadn't been half as intimidating as he had originally imagined.

Breathing had been difficult at first, his body still so unbelievably fucking sore that moving wasn't even an option, but it felt more like it was being done out of habit then necessity. The blood still clinging to his clothes and skin were just reminders that the whole ordeal had really happened. But... Even though he was, it didn't really feel like it ( ... )

Hatori had been in the city of Desai for nearly thirty minutes and he still felt as disoriented as he had been when he "arrived."

He still wasn't sure exactly how he had come to arrive at the monorail station. ...Come to think of it, he wasn't sure of much of anything at the moment. He supposed it could've been compared to a severe case of jet-lag. Not that he would know what that was like.

A sudden commotion nearby got his attention and he peered through the crowd to catch a glimpse of a woman rolling on the ground. On fire.

On instinct, he whipped his coat off and ran to her side, throwing the coat over her in an attempt to smother the flames. Wherever this place was, he could already tell this was going to be a blast. Really.

This was most definitely not the ideal entrance Rem had wanted to make had she known she was going to be pulled somewhere different. She had an audience watching her try desperately to extinguish herself, but just what the devil was wrong with these people? A person in front of you is on fire, you try to help, right?

Rem was quietly thankful when she realized at least one person had the sense and compassion to help and stopped where she was when the coat was thrown on her. "Thank God..." she mumbled to herself giving a heavy sigh. Hey wait. She could feel her heart racing from the whole thing. There was something very not right going on here. Why was she alive again? It was something to figure out.

Cracking her eyes open, she looked up to who helped her with a little smile, "Thank you, I-- ...Hatori?!" This had to be some kind of trick.

Hatori started to tell the woman she didn't have to thank him, but the sudden use of his name stopped him in his tracks and he blinked at her. It took a moment for it to register (or rather, for him to believe it), but when it did, his eyes brightened slightly before darkening again with concern.

"Rem," he said, as if testing the name, "My God, are you all right? What happened?"

"I-i'm fine, just confused," she answered, starting to get up but holding that coat around her. Rem looked at him concernedly, making sure he was really there and in one piece.

"...How did...I mean.. God, this makes no sense."
