[Being stripped of his duties by his new taichou, Ashido had expected to have more time on his hands than he knew what to do with. Instead, Byakuya had chosen to keep him busy. Menial tasks. The most basic of basics. Something in him resented it- he was not incompetent. He could do his job. Otherwise, he almost welcomed the distraction

If I can't avoid him, how are ya gonna protect me? If it's that asshole, he could just find me whenever he wants ta, no matter if we're seein' each other or not.

[His grip on the other tightens slightly, hands fisting in the back of his old shihakusho. Don't question it, Renji. He doesn't have an answer.]

...I'm doing his work inside of Seireitei.

[Almost instinctively, he presses his nose against Ashido's neck.]

There's nothing else to do. I'll find a way out of this, somehow. But for now I have no choice.

[Silence. It wasn't something he could promise. Even if Aizen didn't get to him, the Gotei might. Talk about a rock and a hard place.

With a sigh, he turns his head to bury his face in red hair.]

Good. S'all I can ask.

[He sighed, just wanting to stay like this.]

What about you? If I can't do what he asks... nowhere is safe. Not the Seireitei, not the Neutral Zone. Nowhere.
