[ And enter a very excited looking Apollo Justice, having just stepped out of the courtroom doors. In his world, he's just taken his bar exam, and before he realizes that he's not home, he lets out an excited WHOOP! of joy, most likely catching the attention of any passers-by. Apollo has, of course, practiced his Chords of Steel training this ( Read more... )

[ So much work to do, and especially in this wretched weather... he pauses as he sees the red-clad young man.

Why is he so familiar? And then he remembers-- the day those new people came here! But this one seems different. So he looks over at him, unsure of what to say... the boy does look confused, but... ]

...

Which Gavin would you be referring to?

Yes, actually, I do.

[ It's not a lie. He knew of him, and on the day of that Titanic curse, he knew of things that had happened between at least -that- version of Kristoph Gavin and Klavier Gavin. He'd been Klavier's cousin that day, as it was. ]

And I'm certain his brother would like to be informed about him as well, if he really is here.

... What?

[ Apollo blinked. Twice. And then again.

That wasn't possible. Kristoph, have a brother? No, not possible. Not possible at all. If Mr. Gavin had had a brother, he would've mentioned him to Apollo, right? Mr. Gavin trusted him enough for that, right..?

Quickly, Apollo shook his head, giving Edgeworth a wide-eyed, confused look. ]

... Mr. Gavin doesn't have a brother.

[ And that, of course, makes the older prosecutor go very still. Wait. Wait just a minute. ]

...what?

[ And he stares right back at Apollo, trying to figure how the hell this even works. Why doesn't Apollo know of Klavier Gavin if he's working for the man's older brother? ]

Mr. Justice, you can't be saying you do not know about Prosecutor Klavier Gavin... his younger brother!

[ And then, he wonders. He knows that seven years ago in Klavier's time, he had been the one responsible for Wright's disbarring. Apollo ought to know that-- but what if he shouldn't?

Why him. Why him? ]

[ That headache feels a lot more comfortable right now compared to this. ]

... And you quite obviously don't. Somehow I don't blame him for not mentioning him to you, all this time.

!!

[ The shock on Apollo's face is such that one would probably think that electricity had just shot through him. His eyes snap open wide and he takes a step back, his entire body rigid. ]

P-Prosecutor?!

[ Suddenly, so many things made sense. Though Apollo still didn't put two and two together that this "Klavier Gavin" was the reason his idol, Phoenix Wright, had been disbarred. After hearing the initial news, Apollo had cut himself off from all subsequent reports, thus missing the names of everyone else involved. It had hurt far too much to hear his hero had been corrupt all the time, and even though Apollo didn't want to believe it, there was still that doubt in his mind. ]

[ But before he can pursue it further, Edgeworth's last comment gets to him and he gives the taller man a look, his hands fists at his sides, the cloak threatening to slide off. ]

What's that supposed to mean?!

( I sincerely wish I meant what you thought I meant, so those reactions wouldn't go to waste. )

It's nothing you've done. Just that his brother has another career that I'm quite certain is rather pointless to mention when you're training as a student of law.

[ He looks over at him calmly. ]

He is a prosecutor, yes. But he is also an international rock star.

[ A sigh. ]

...Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

[ ... Apollo's not sure what's sillier: the fact that Kristoph never mentioned him in the first place, or the fact that one can be a rock star and a prosecutor at the same time.

Or even why Mr. Gavin would put up with a brother like that. He'd always seemed so... formal. The rock star life didn't seem to suit the other Gavin... well, at all. ]

...

(Why does nothing make sense any more?!)

( And this time it's not even the City's fault that that career combination isn't making any sense. )

He lives next door to me. If he's back from his investigation tonight, you can meet him yourself.

[ And he gives the boy a mildly sympathetic look. ]

The weather is probably going to get worse. We must get inside lest you catch a cold.

[ Looks down at his badge, tugging at the lapel for a moment before hugging the cloak tighter around his frame, feeling the wind start to pick up. Oh, he'd give anything for the humid Los Angeles summer now.. ]

Y... Yeah, okay...

(Mr. Gavin, you've got some explaining to do..)
