She's not looking...Now's my chance!

Ahem...If there are any dashing heroes out there who feel like rescuing poor little me from a cruel tyrant, I'm waiting! Yes, I'm in the clutches of an evil, abusive witch. She makes me work nonstop, for days at a time, until I just can't go on...She thinks slapping a little duct tape on me will make everything ( Read more... )

It's happened before... Maybe people only spoke up because they heard that other message.

--You're right. Good luck, Rita.

Huh. Well, it's not like disembodied voices can do anything, so I doubt it'll be a problem.

Sure. Later. [She turns off the video...]

[--and a brief time later, it's on again when she knocks it to the floor. Rita, looking somewhere between shocked, disturbed, and annoyed, is holding her blowtorch in one hand and staring at something.]

L-look, just--shut up, stop screaming, will you?

[The sound of high-pitched wailing is going on in the background.]

[ Damn it, Rita, don't you know he was almost on his way... somewhere with Jowy? He stops dead in his tracks and turns around to rush back towards the beach house. ]

[ But he really has to say: ] What the hell is wrong with you?! I can't believe that...!

Huh? [She glances at the device, surprised only for a second. Damnit, she really didn't want anyone to see such a weird scene. She barely knows what the hell's going on as it is.]

Just what I needed--Hey, shut up already, you...thing!

[Still trying to process the shrieking going on out of the camera's view.]

[ Given how this scene looks to him, he's not entirely sure if she's talking about him or the person screaming out of his view. ] No way!

Rita, Put that torch away! If you don't stop now, I'll stop you.

Stop me? [It hits--he's got the wrong idea again. She supposes she understands; she would too, right? But it's still a pain to deal with. She's not hurt he doesn't trust her. That kind of thing doesn't matter. With a flick of her thumb, the torch is turned off.]

There, happy?

Now keep it off until I get there. [ Because he's still going over to the beach house. He's still gobsmacked she lied to him and more so that it really seems that the wrong idea is the right idea. ]

Tch, what a pain...[Rita grumbles and runs a hand through her hair in irritation, going to pick up the device. She glowers at the screen for a moment before turning the camera toward her workbench, which seems to be the source of the sound. There are several squares cut from various materials, and one in particular is scored with a still-smouldering burn mark. The noise seems to be centered there.]

It's off, so quit crying like...a baby or something, whatever you are!

[ whatever, angry Rita face. He looks around the screen, but even though he hears the sounds, he can't see anyone in the field of view. ]

Where are they? [ Invisible? ]

Yeah, those voices you were talking about? It's coming from this! [She shakes the device and points to the square, still getting over the shock.]

I was just going to score the formula crests, but--and now it's all messed up!

[ ...Tyr hates this place. He sighs heavily, almost glaring at the square. ]

...You can't be serious. Throw out that piece. It's not worth it now.

[Yeah, that's how she feels too. But there's still one other dilemma...]

I'd like to, but--[And then the object starts wailing again until she raises the torch threateningly.] I can't just--throw it away or work on it when it's...s-screaming like I'm torturing it.

It can't be that hard to pick it up and chuck it out a window. [ He hates that thing now. Seriously. He got so worked up over it. ]
