Hou Xian (Hoho) - Gu Wan

I was thinking about translating a song by a popular Mexican band into English today, but I decided to do upload some Hou Xian instead, since I was caught up in that Bookworm game.  (I beat my highest score by getting 305,800 this time.  I'm a supreme librarian.  Had I not gotten all vowels at the bottom, I wouldn't have had to mix the letters the way I did.)  In any case, I might post a Maná translation soon, possibly "Sábanas Frías."  Just so you know that I don't just listen to Chinese. :P

I had to buy a Hou Xian album after someone recommended him.  He calls his style RNC, since it's a mix between R&B and Chinese styles, so it's like Jay Chou's Zhongguo Feng songs, only indie.  Not bad!  Since Hou Xian is from Mainland China, you can buy his albums for less than what you'd pay for albums from Taiwan or Hong Kong, and his albums are listed on YesAsia!

See?  Even on the cover they compare him to Jay Chou.  I think Hoho sounds funny as a name, but the Pinyin for his Chinese name is Hou Xian.  Hou Xian writes all his own music and lyrics, but that's not all.  He also arranges and produces his own songs.  You can download the album here.  The tracklist with the English translation from the lyrics book (and my own English translations for some) is as follows:

1.  西厢 - West Chamber
2.  桥段 - Love's Way (Bridge)
3.  小白 - Helen (It's a name in Chinese, but Helen?!  LOL!)
4.  逃学书童 - Runaway Kid (Kid Who Skips School)
5.  只爱火星人 - Woman from Mars (I Love a Martian)
6.  东爱 - Picturestic Love (Picturesque Love, but literally Eastern Love)
7.  哥德巴赫猜 - Goldbach (Goldbach's Conjecture)
8.  给安娜 - For Anna
9.  踢馆 - My Show Time
10.  十有八九 - Around So (Ten Has Eight and Nine)

His MVs tend to be a bit lame, but here are a couple from his "Invincible Eastern" album:
