Yeah, I remember reading that thinking "thank god", no one could have played Chazz as perfectly as Will, even just trying to imagine someone else as Chazz just doesn't work :)

because try as he might, Ben can never convince me that he is a big manly man. Isn't he also shorter than Jon?

Jon is only just a wee bit shorter than Will as it is :P

But Will can play both stupid and a complete jerk, and still make us like his character. Ben can’t.

Oh yeah, after watching Wedding Crashers I can wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment. Chazz in WC was a complete jerk but you still ended up loving the guy, no matter how much of a jerk he was ;)

I am just so glad Will was available to play the part, no one else could possibly have done Chazz justice in that role :D

Honestly, I was thinking about this the other day... I think Chazz would have ended up as a repeat of Derek Zoolander, which would not have been half as hysterical... or like a combo of Derek Zoolander and his role from Dodgeball, White Goodman. Either way, Will OWNED the role. Hands down.

And for random info... Ben is listed at IMDB as 5'7", Will as 6'3", Jon as 6'1"... so... that would have been REALLY interesting. "Hey Princess" coming out of tiny Ben Stiller's mouth would NOT have had the same effect.

have read various rumours and speculation on various gossip blogs about this, ranging from Stiller thought Chazz was too similar to some of his other characters to he was demanding too much money/being a general diva about the whole thing. Whatever the reason, the "comedy clydesdale" pulled it off beautifully, and whilst I do love the Stiller (who doesn't love Ben Stiller?) it would have been quite a different movie indeed had he taken the lead, and whilst it's impossible to say for sure, I really don't think it would have worked anything like as well as it did.

I have to say I agree with green_wing. Just thinking of someone other than Will playing Chazz just doesn't work. Don't get me wrong I love Ben Stiller, he has done some great comedy but he just doesn't seem like he would make Chazz seem as manly. Also I don't think he would have delivered some of the lines as well as Will did. lol.
