I remember reading somewhere that Ben Stiller was originally supposed to play the role of Chazz, but in the end he decided to only produce the movie.
I love Ben an all, but I think we can all agree that we were lucky Will Ferrell got the part. Can you imagine what the movie and the character would have been like had Ben taken the role?
Maybe the man/woman roles wouldn’t have been as distinctive, because try as he might, Ben can never convince me that he is a big manly man. Isn't he also shorter than Jon?
We also know from Zoolander that Ben is perfectly capable of playing a complete idiot who has no idea what he is talking about (it was one of the few times where Will’s character was actually smarter than another character). But Will can play both stupid and a complete jerk, and still make us like his character. Ben can’t.
Every time Ben plays a not so intelligent character who is anything less than “nice”, he somehow comes off as the devil’s son, who needs to be bitch slapped and then bend over a knee and spanked (Sorry, but I have never seen a comedian with a nicer ass than Ben's)
So yeah. I think we were lucky. :)
Anyway, I'm sure Ben's slashy time will come with Tropic Thunder, because war movies are always slashy.
