We're not snobby really, I would say you're no different, you listen to a blend of radio and non-radio. If she ever perused our cds I bet she's heard of at least 60% of them. But close to 90% of them are rock. And some of them I have no idea who they are, they're Pete's. I don't want to come off as snobby, I am not snobby. I am more than willing to share this info with others, first of all. And sometimes I do like being hip and different. But snobby implies better, which I wouldn't say I think I am better than anyone, I just have different tastes. I don't like all indie music either, I just like to route for underdogs in any situation. I like new bands nobody's heard of, but I am not a slave to them like some other people I know. I just think rock music is something that the people have to grab by the horns, and there's some really good stuff out there the masses never hear because the executives at the top don't think it'll sell, which pisses me off. I just am not really a pop/dance music (i/e shakira) sort of person though overall.

and you can diss on the hipsters like doug all you want, who completely abstain from listening to the radio in any way, but the truth is the radio is pretty terrible. we flip stations so much, escaping the tide of colorless rap and worse.
i don't think you're snobberish. i just think shosh thinks her music isn't " cool enough " for you guys, and she was surprised to hear you guys liking it.
one of the things i like about being my age is that i just don't give two shits anymore.
yesterday i saw some 14 year old boy wearing bell bottom jeans so huge they looked like individual denim skirts on his legs. and i thought to myself, is that guy competing for someone's approval ?
besides remembering the 80's clearer than your friends do, not looking cool anymore is one of the sweetest perks of being over thirty.
