I'm reading The Third Policeman right now, but I'm all over that McCarthy book as soon as I can steal a copy. The two combined should roast my brain in no time.

My birthday's in less than a month, I think I shall put the McCarthy on the top of my Hint List. I just re-read Time's Arrow by Martin Amis; have you read it? It is a brain-roaster for sure. But no one I talk to has read it so I never get to talk about it.

Haven't read any Amis yet, actually. He's been on my list for awhile, though.

Oh, do check him out soon. He's so worth it. Time's Arrow is a masterpiece but The Information is a great one as well. I'm reading a collection of essays and criticism of his right now called 'The War Against Cliche.' He's a crank & he writes cranky; that's probably why I like him so much. I'm pretty cranky.

Again, thank you for taking that worry away so I could indeed swash and buckle, or at least laugh like a cackling hen quite a bit. We took over the workshop (WITH POWER TOOLS) and turned it into The Women's Lounge. Room for 4 women and Pepper who's job it was to sit on the cooler and hand out beer to people who asked. He was also in charge of getting things accomplished for us by bellowing out orders to passerby.

You can imagine this behavior by ALL parties was the source of very loud maniacal laughter. We did allow Gary to enter, but he had a mandolin.

The puppy seemed to have survived nicely, both he and the cat are models of good behavior today...even getting along rather well.

I heard Mary recite the entire version of her rewrite of The Raven called, The Turkey...THREE times. The whole thing. It was amazing. Amazing. Quoth the turkey....nevermore.

Also, Pepper persuaded me to take a swig of tequila. Yikes just bringing the bottle anywhere near my nose brought back horrible memories of my 20's...a place I NEVER want to be again.

"Yes, but Kris, it's really GOOD tequila, real SMOOTH, you really HAVE to try it"

TEQUILA IS STILL TEQUILA DAMMIT.
