 I am having the WORST time trying to photograph this thing as a whole, or, heck, even as individual panels. There are three of them, each 24" square, and they're wood, so they have a warm, subtle color and a sheen to the grain that shifts in the light like satin or silk.

They confound my camera. I am going to try getting pictures with someone else ( Read more... )

I tried to paint this bird a couple years ago. It ... did not end well. The photo I was working from, which I had taken myself, was lovely but not very sharp, and the slightly raised right wing made a jumble of light/dark patterns that I got lost in, and it all went wrong.

The working title of this was Owl House, although there isn't much of a house involved. It's 17" high, and the owl is a cutout of salvaged tin, painted in oils. You can click this photo to enlarge it.
