Monster souls--hmmm.
What thing is it that demons cannot do, however? Lost me on that one.
More power to the thinkers who can find a theme in all the plot threads. Me, I'm just waiting for the show to lay it out in the finale.
Or clever people like you to spell it out for me :)

Flowcharts coming tomorrow (if work doesn't kill me first LOL)!

That was the whole plot of Season 2, right? Find the Colt and kill the Yellow Eyed Demon...

When I said that demons cannot die, I meant they can't die where they were born: meaning in Hell. That's a very important distinction. That distinction is what is driving the war by determining who participates in it.

The big theme this year is the one hiding in plain sight: souls. That really is what it's about. The part that everybody seems to be confused on is WHAT ABOUT THEM is so very important?
SuperWiki has been tweeting various reasons that souls are important and I've been contributing to that (my favorite is "banana phone").
We're used to Show giving us one antagonist at a time. This year, we have six: Meg, Crowley, Raphael, Death, Eve ... and Castiel. This year, Cas is an antagonist because of his shady activities, even shadier motivations, and because of his distinct absence early in the year. His absence especially should tip his hand as to what he's up to regarding the boys.
The thing that ties all five of those together? They all want the same thing that Lucifer did ... the same location. They all want Earth. They just all want it for their own reasons. We. The people. Souls. We tie it all together.
