This was really confusing to me, haha. How would it have helped Castiel find Dean? It was on Sam's body topside so why would Dean have had it in Hell? I mean, I know you see it when he's spinning around in the Hell vortex (still funny) but that was probably in his head, like how ghosts look the way they died, clothes and all. In that case, it's not ACTUALLY the amulet and therefore would not have the same qualities, especially since Dean himself did not actually know the true "power" of it - he only treasures it because his brother gave it to him and it's kind of a symbol of their brotherhood, which is probably a reason why he STILL cherishes it even after all the crap they've been through
( ... )
I'm wondering if the amulet isn't just a red herring, actually. It has a lot of personal meaning but it doesn't actually do anything or have any power. What if it's just another feather in Dumbo's grasp, so to speak.
I honestly have no idea. I would think that if it had some sort of power to find VIPs, it would have had some obvious impact by now... IDK.
On the other hand, the power of Dean's suggestion seems to be flying under the radar... I mean, what about 5.07:
Dean says: "I'm having a heart attack", and though it doesn't happen immediately, it happens within the same episode.
Dean says: "Sam - don't lose", and he doesn't lose... not to take away from Sam's ability to play a player, but those cards had to fall exactly right and they did.
Patrick says: "The power is not in the chips - it is in the 900 year old witch", which falls into that whole Dumbo category. Bobby thought it was the chips - maybe in a false hope that he could steal his future back. Ultimately it was just a red herring that led to them getting caught in the act.
Stuff like that. I don't know what that says, but it stood out the second time I watched it.
what if ..... John is God's vessel and that's why he's lost. He's trying to get him back from the depths of hell or something. That would be cool. estarmuerta kinda got me on that track. If Michael and Lucifer are brothers: Dean and Sam are vessels. Then wouldn't it be cool to have their "father" come back as God's vessel.
I'm not as deep into supernatural as everyone else, but just as a rookie supernatural fan that would be awesome.
