The MsScribe saga was riveting reading. I must look at Bad Penny and see what more I can read about it all. I'm really glad that for my entire fandom life I have been sheltered from the crazies. Or rather, I only know good crazies. *g*

And yeah, she seems to have been really awful...and more than a little crazy, I think. There is definitely something wrong when you become obsessed with your own status (in any arena) so much that you actually start fabricating drama and manipulating people who are supposed to be your friends, for the sake of making yourself more appealing to people you don't even know. I keep wondering what was so lacking in her supposedly perfect life that she resorted to something like this to make herself feel good.

Did you see the little sockpuppet wank I reposted in my LJ a couple of days ago? Things like that seem to be happening in all kinds of fandoms now that the Msscribe thing has come out. Sometimes the accusers are right about the sockpuppets, but usually they're not--or they're just being mean. I wonder if it makes Msscribe happy to know that her actions are having such an effect on people not even remotely connected to her or HP...

i'd like to tell myself that i enjoyed the msscribe saga in a purely academic sense, as a scholar of new media... but that's not true at all.
