AS and the author avatar, fic progress, and life. In reverse order.

More updates for me. Because doing my work in the computer room would just be silly.

I'm borrowing raedbard's numbered format for today, because I have quite a lot of rambling to do. Pick your own cut.

*sighs* He's just going to have to keep the house anyway. I need angst, and the house is required :-)

And as for the Congressmen... what about their staff? How much Washington time do we think they spend? And do they get weekends off? This fic hates me, I know that now...

And thank you for the age thoughts. I can't see Sam as much older than 35 either, as though I am aware he needs to age through the show and then through the fic, I just can't make myself believe it....

I know exactly how you feel! I said in my initial comment that he's probably 32 in Season 1, but my personal canon says he's 31 and he kinda stays in that nebulous early-30s age group pretty much forever. I don't care how little sense it makes! *g* (Thankfully RL helps out a lot with that whole picture in the attic thing he's got going.)

Sorkinland sounds better to me than Disneyland. Seriously. (But...does it have little hats or something akin to Mickey ears? Cause that'd be fun.)

This is an *old* question but... respective ages (in any season) of Sam, Toby, CJ and Josh

Well, like raedbard said, Toby was born in 1954. And CJ was going to her 20-year class reunion in 'The Long Goodbye', and I'm assuming she graduated high school when she was 18, which makes her 38 or 39 then, depending on when her birthday is. (I know Allison's birthday is Novemeber 19th, but I don't remember CJ ever having a birthday in Sorkinland ( ... )

a) I *love* your icon.

b) Sorkinland, like babies, should have hats...

c)Hmm... see in my brain Josh and Sam didn't meet until Sam was in college, so Josh is a little older. And I can explain why I think this, it just makes no sense... The Sam in my brain had a hard time in high school (yeah, that one line in "Take this Sabbath Day" - from that I build childhood trauma...) and I just don't see Josh letting him get beaten up. Which also makes no sense because ("there were no two guys either one of you could have taken") I don't see Josh winning lots of fights either! It's odd how your own personal canon builds, isn't it? And before I forget, thanks for the thoughts, they did indeed help. :-)

a) Isn't it *wonderful*? I snagged it from, um...someone. I know I've credited it in my userpics, at any rate.

b) My first instinct was to say Big Block of Cheese hats, but that's not really including Sports Night and Studio 60, now, is it? Also, Green Bay's already got the monopoly on cheese hats, I think. Maybe we can have hats with big mushrooms on them?

...ladies and gentlemen, it's official: I am going to hell for that comment. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, direct on the express train to hell. (Aaron, sweetie, I didn't mean it like that. You know I love you, I really do. I can't help it if that's the first thing I thought of! I'd just finished re-reading an interview that talks about it all!)

c) I love that idea. I've never really thought about Josh being older than Sam, really; I just know that they're about the same age.

I don't know why people (not you specifically) assume Josh is the only authorial avatar. Clearly Sorkin infuses a great deal of himself into his characters who are writers -- he wouldn't keep writing about them if being a writer, the process of writing, the artistry, weren't such a huge part of himself. Dan and Leo are the recovering drug addict side of him, Dan and Toby are the New York Jew part of him, Sam is his passionate idealism, Josh is his vulnerable maniac driven side. The others I'm not so sure about: Dana and CJ are the women he loves, and Isaac and Jed are the patriarchs (his dad? maybe himself as boss?).

I just can't imagine Josh being Sorkin's only avatar.

Gotta agree with raedbard and others above regarding Toby and CJ's ages. Those are the easy ones. As for Sam, he tells us in the pilot (to Mallory's grade 4 class) that he graduated from law school 8 years ago. Factor in 7 years for his undergrad and law school and the fact that he ( ... )
