A few days had gone by since the night of the magazine and letter from Yunho and Changmin. Jaejoong had texted the pair a time or two, and even gotten to say a quick hello to Changmin as his dongsaeng went from dance practice out to the car that would take him home.
‘Hyung, I’m really tired of this…’
It had been hard to keep his tears back. ‘I know you are, Min-ah, I am too… I miss you both so much.’
‘I miss Yoochun-hyung and Junsu-hyung too, do you know how much I miss them? I never…’
Jae smiled as Changmin hiccupped. ‘I won’t tell them if you don’t want me to.’
‘Tell them…’ Min sounded on the verge of tears even as he lowered his voice to keep from being overheard. ‘I hope, that you’re alright… That you’re taking care of them and letting them take care of you. Tell them if they aren’t, they’re both dead.’
‘I’ll tell them.’

Dinner was a quiet affair, the way the lead singer preferred it. Junsu’s boisterous phone call mid-afternoon had made him smile, even as he complained about not wanting to hear Yoochun’s ‘greasy’ voice and all the promises he was making to his boyfriend if they could eat dinner alone. After hearing that, Jae was more than certain he did not want to attend dinner with them.
Instead replying that he already had plans for the evening, Jae had hung up quickly when Junsu’s giggles changed to something a little more fluttery. An hour later when they had texted and asked if he was sure he didn’t want to go out with them, he again replied that he had plans and was content to leave them to themselves. Quiet just seemed, better, at least for tonight, and dinner with Junsu and Yoochun would not be quiet.
He needed to just think for awhile, and being with his almost-always-laughing brothers had a tendency to distract him from that. Granted, they made a fairly solid argument that they were keeping him from depression, but just because he was quiet didn’t mean he was depressed. Well he was, but still, sometimes you just needed some time to yourself.
So Jae took some time to himself, and as he sat staring out at the city with a glass of wine, he found himself wondering why his ‘alone-time’ always transformed into ‘waiting-for-Yunho-time’.
“Always Keep the Faith…” He murmured, smiling faintly to himself. “I can’t help it…”

Jaejoong rolled over in bed with a low, inquiring hum, groping blindly for his cell phone. Squinting at the sudden brightness, he smiled, pulling the phone closer. Rolling onto his back and rubbing his eyes clear with one hand, Jaejoong grinned widely as he considered the screen. It suddenly didn’t matter what time it was anymore.

Boo, I know it’s late, but are you still in Seoul?
1 New Text Message:
From: BeautifulSoul
Hi Love, yes. Why?

I was thinking about dinner, tomorrow night. Well, tonight, really, since it’s so late. Any chance I can see my Baby for a meal?
Jae sat straight up, suddenly wide awake. He re-read the message three times, one hand rising to cover his mouth as he stared wide-eyed at the screen. This isn’t real, this can’t be real… Gods tell me this is real.

Boo? Tell me I can see you for dinner, please.

Tell me you want to see me.

Yes. Of course you can, of course I want to see you. Just us, or do you want YooSu over?

I think just us… I want to see my brothers soon, and Min-ah wants to see you all as well… But I just need to see you.

Jae read the text, smiled, waited.

Yunho smiled, considering the text for another moment before he made his reply and turned his eyes to the city.

Jaejoong smiled and set his phone back on his bedside table, cuddling back into his pillows. See you soon, Yunnie…
