We got the answer on the amniotic fluid test today, and all chromosones are 100% OK. Phew! We had agreed that if something looked wrong, we would terminate the pregnancy, but now it is on in earnest. I learned from my brother that yet another of my classmates is dead. Thomas died after being diagnosed with cancer in August. He came to our class in fifth grade, and was one of the troublemakers. I've been working my first week after my four-week vacation. It has been a fairly busy week, with two distinct patient groups: old people with catharacts wanting referrals to the eye clinic, and people born in the mid-60's feeling the onset of presbyopia. I finally got my act together and filed my request for leaving the Swedish Lutheran Church. Back when I was christened, the rule was that one became a member of the state church. The triumph of the geek is old hat, with computer wiz kids being hailed as the new heroes a few years ago, "Lord of the Rings" going 100% mainstream, and the 'Net making it a breeze cultivating all sorts of odd collecting and sub-cultures. The Easter was as usual this year, with a big exception. On Thursday, I went to Jönköping, where I was picked up by my parents. Together with my brother, we drove to Nässjö and the burial service for my grandmother. This Thursday I'm off to the burial service for my grandmother. It will be the first time in ages that I'll see some of my cousins - we aren't exactly a tight-knit clan... Turned 43 the other day (Monday, to be precise). Five years ago, Kalle was just a few days old. Two years ago, I was recovering from the appendix surgery. Compared to that, it was extremely uneventful.
