I'm thinking of getting a greyhound. Or at least a ~regnar~.

So, here is a thing which actually happened: I bought this. Yes, this is apparently the depth to which my Holmesian obsession has sunk to. No, I do not pretend to have any defense for such a thing -- except, maybe, to point out that JASON GRAY-STANFORD IS THE VOICE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. Also: ROBOTS. Also: on sale for nine bucks. I AM ONLY HUMAN ( Read more... )

Isn't it intriguing?? :D I'll definitely be giving my thoughts/impressions about it on LJ, because it's such a bizarre thing to be watching that I feel obligated to share the experience -- so I'll let you know if it's good! :)

I heart you for so many reasons, just so you know. Also, I clicked on the link before reading the full post, saw only the somewhat unexpected image and the words "Jason Gray-Stanford," and immediately decided this was something I need to look into. So, y'know, no judgment here.

Good luck wading through the literary garbage...

Yeah, this is one I'll hafta be sharing details about, simply because a cartoon about Futuristic!Sherlock starring the voice of Randy Disher is a viewing experience that has to be shared. I'll let you know how it is. :D

Thanks for the well-wishes on the reading; I'm hoping to blaze through a good chunk of it tonight at the reference desk ...

I also bought too much stuff lately, it's bad. *g* I'm just lucky that I got two things I wanted to buy for my birthday, so I could cross them off the list. ^^

My father has read almost everything by Sanderson (that's translated), and it started because I read about his books and they sounded cool. Of course I haven't read any of them, but my father loved them and only reads bricks. *g* You know, time. At the moment I'm reading some novel I got by bookcrossing, but I think I'll stop and send it on, because I just can't really get myself invested enough. It's a fun book, but I guess I'm just not in the mood for it. And it's almost 400 pages. *sigh* And because I just go madlorific's book (you know, stuff I bought^^), which makes puppy eyes at me (it's madlorific! I've never cried so hard over a fanfic than I did over "Alone on the water", which is some kind of rite of passage in the "Sherlock" fandom. Because... so good and so sad. T_T), I think it's better to just stop ( ... )

I have been SO BAD with buying things lately; I'm just really terrible. I've been feeling Star-Trekky lately and so was plunking down money left and right on eBay, buying things I didn't previously know even existed but apparently desperately needed. (Okay, maybe I did sort of need the Star Trek wristwatch. :D) I've *really* gotta stop it ( ... )

It's so easy to find things you never knew you needed - but then they're there and you just feel that your life won't be complete without them. *g* I've got a very long list of books and DVDs which I want to buy, you know, someday ( ... )

Ah, Their Eyes Were Watching God. I remember that book. In particular, the good and happy marriage in it that involves domestic violence.

*whistles*

P.S. If we women are so different from men, why the constant societal need to keep hammering in how different we are? You'd think it would go without saying. And yet, there seems to be an almost pathological need to keep making these distinctions. I mean...we're treated so differently from men that there has to be some good explanation for it. And any explanation is better than none, right? Whether it paints all men as evil or all women as inferior, at least "men and women are different because of [insert belief system here]" explains something. Otherwise, so many of our concepts would start to make no sense!

P.S. Started to type "men and women are different because of X", looked at what I had written, remembered my 7th grade science class, and burst out laughing.
