I'm thinking of getting a greyhound. Or at least a ~regnar~.

So, here is a thing which actually happened: I bought this. Yes, this is apparently the depth to which my Holmesian obsession has sunk to. No, I do not pretend to have any defense for such a thing -- except, maybe, to point out that JASON GRAY-STANFORD IS THE VOICE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. Also: ROBOTS. Also: on sale for nine bucks. I AM ONLY HUMAN.

Speaking of reading, I promised a co-worker I'd read this modern-classic novel in order to help her lead a discussion group about it in March. ("It's very spiritual! I think you'll like it!") That was some weeks ago, but of course I put off reading it because I've been busy reading about swoon-worthy detective-actors and Cardassian tailors, not to mention the time it's going to take me to get through Brandon Sanderson's latest brick. But I am starting to inch towards the deadline (er, I assume; I kind of forget when the event's going to be exactly; but no matter, it's sometime in March so it must be coming), so this morning I decided I better start reading. Two paragraphs in and I'm already pissed off.

Yes, life for men is about dreaming, achieving their dreams or dying in sorrow at the dreams that never came!! But WOMEN, now, WOMEN'S lives are only about truth!! Women do not dream, merely respond to life!! I hate everything.

I mean, it is at least only 190 pages; this won't kill me. It's just ... I *GRADUATED* FROM THE LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE. I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE TO READ STUFF LIKE THIS ANYMORE.

I'd start in here on my gender-and-Pixar rant, but I'm late for work and anyway I'm not in the mood. Geebus, why must we view women as alien beings in this culture??? (... and not COOL alien beings, either. Just so we're clear.)

readin', libraries by day, life the negaverse and everything, rebels at stagnation
