Deer can be quite hardy. The leg could possibly heal and while he won't be as fast as he was before, perhaps that will stop him from jumping out in front of a vehicle?

This. White tail deer are uncannily hardy, and are able to survive with certain wounds just fine. Leaving some extra grain, fruits or kitchen scraps out where he and the herd can find it would be a nice thing.
We had a herd of white tail that started with one rescued fawn throughout my teen years, and my mother was often brought injured deer.
Maybe he was put there in front of you for a reason. Guess its up to you to figure out why. Glad you are going to be leaving food for him and his friends.
aww. We have a small lake /pond behind the apartment. I walk the dogs around it daily. (not to mention being out back to grill or what have you or feed the ducks leftover bread or chips and stuff) We had about 20 ducks or so this summer. I counted 2 sets on of 13 and one of maybe 11 but they move around a lot. Hard to count accurately. Anyway. In later summer we noticed one of the ducks seemed to have a broken leg. We really started worrying about it. Would it get eaten by a cat or something. Would it be abandoned by the other ducks. Eventually we noticed the other ducks would wait for it when they did the mass swims across the lake. It seemed to have one duck that usually waited and swam slowly next to it. It didn't seem to have issues flying, that I could tell, just swimming and walking. But it seemed to us like the ducks formed a family (well I suppose they already were family ;->) and looked out for the lame duck. Maybe and hopefully your deer are like that to. They are looking out for their lame deer. This warms my heart{{{hugs
oh and when tossing food out to the ducks? I always try to throw a bit extra to the lame duck as best I can. Since that one isn't usually part of the frenzy of "mine" that the rest of them do
